Run through this list the evening before a long drive, not at the toll plaza.
- Tyre pressure including the stepney, plus jack and wheel spanner
- Engine oil, coolant and washer fluid levels
- All lights, indicators and wipers working
- Fuel planned to the next reliable pump, not the last drop
- Membership number and toll-free helpline saved on your phone
Plan your stops
Fatigue causes as many incidents as mechanical failure. Break every two hours and avoid unlit stretches at night wherever possible.
