Monsoon Driving: Preventing Breakdowns in Heavy Rain

Never restart a stalled engine in water

If your engine stops in standing water, do not crank it again. Water drawn into the cylinders causes hydro-lock and severe engine damage that insurance often disputes. Call for a tow instead.

Before the season starts

A short pre-monsoon check saves most rain-season calls.

• Replace worn wiper blades and top up washer fluid
• Check tyre tread depth for wet grip
• Test all lights and the horn
• Inspect the battery and terminals for corrosion
