How to Prevent Flat Tyres on Long Drives
Pressure, rotation and a usable stepney — the three habits that keep a puncture from ending your journey.

Check pressure cold, every fortnight
Under-inflated tyres flex more, heat up and fail at highway speeds. Check pressure when tyres are cold and follow the placard on the driver's door pillar, not the sidewall maximum.
Don't forget the stepney
A spare tyre that has lost pressure is the most common reason a simple tyre change turns into a tow. Include it in every pressure check.
Rotate and inspect
Rotate tyres every 8,000–10,000 km and look for embedded nails, sidewall cuts and uneven wear that signals alignment problems.
